Your Trip to Arizona

Okay - regarding making the trip to AZ: There is no right or wrong answer. The way you answered is how you're doing your life right now. Some of you are taking the scenic drive and enjoying the journey; some of you want to get there right away, no messing around. Some of you spent a lot of time preparing, organizing, making sure you have all the things you think you'll want or need - but did you ever "go"? Is that how your life is right now - preparing but never getting on with it or ever arriving? Some of you didn't want to make the trip at all. Are you happy where you are - or is this resistance why you're not where you want to be with your life?

In one class, a person went into great detail about all the items he needed to bring, but he never got around to telling us he started moving. That was what he was doing in his life too - working on making enough money to get there, taking care of all the details, but he found he wasn't ever really going anywhere. One guy said he wasn't sure his car was going to make it so he wasn't sure he could make the trip. (We found out he had a serious, life-threatening illness and didn't think he was going to be able to do anything with his life.)

When you thought about making the trip - where were you starting from? How did you know that? A lot of people "just start driving" They just grab some things and "go"- not knowing where they're starting from or if they're headed in the right direction. Many people just "assume" they know where they are when they start the journey. It's important to know where you want to go and where you're starting from - if you intend to get there. Now some of you prefer to just drive around in life - enjoying the journey, not attached to where you go or where you end up. So that approach works for you. But for those of you who have a vision for your life, it's important to know where you are NOW so you know what you have to do to "get there!"

Whatever your answer, are you where you want to be in your life? Are the steps you're taking "getting you there?" If not, maybe change how you're doing your life.

When I've asked people how do you know where you are - some people said they would ask someone. Those are usually the ones who ask everyone else to tell them who they are and what they think they should be doing. That's certainly one way to do it. But pay attention to who you ask. Is it someone who knows where they are???

One of the ways to know where you are now (where you're starting your journey) - is to look around and see the signs in your life. The "signs" in your life will show you where you are - that will reveal the beliefs you have about your life. Then you can figure out how to get where you want to go. IF the signs around you are "not enough money to do anything, in a dead-end job, struggle, poverty, loneliness, illness, unhappiness" - then you're starting from that part of your "map." What do you need to do to get there from that starting place? The outer signs in your life will show you what your beliefs have created for you. "Cluttered, distracted, too busy, overwhelmed, etc" - then you're at another part of the map. "Abundance, happy, excited, optimistic, energetic - signs of where you're starting from, what is working for you and what isn't. There's more - you can read more about things like this in my book Make Your Dreams Come True, if you want. I just wanted to start you thinking about your journey - see if how you're doing your life right now is getting you where you want to be (or at least helping you enjoy your life.) Have fun!!
