Hi Pam, Boy that's a tough question. I think I would ask if there's any other field that they are interested in and if that matches one of the growth fields. When you look at some different trends (retiring baby boomers, interest in green, increase in digital technologies) I think you can find places where the economy is growing and there are opportunities for new jobs. I think the economy has changed permanently and it's a good idea to look at what's coming in the future.

Hi Pam! I would have to agree with Mary. Staying in a job they don't like would be unproductive for both them and the company, as they wouldn't be helping to increase productivity. However if they were to work in a job they genuinely enjoy, even if there's not so much profit to be gained from it initially, their enthusiasm would surely help them increase productivity.
